Cinema is a story through visuals, a cinematographer is the one who records those visuals. He works very closely with the director and catches his visualization and practically achieves the visualized image. He is the one who designs the look of the cinema. The major responsibilities of a cinematographer are 1). Lighting 2). Exposing the film. 3 . Executing the framing and camera movement determined by the director.
Cinematography need a great understanding of the subject,, it demands to know number of technical and aesthetic aspects of film making. The sound knowledge on character of light, camera , film sensitivity/ digital sensor , lens.. camera angle.. all these gives u technical expertise.

once u are familiar with the technical and aesthetic norms of cinematography u are able to understand the scene and can deliver good work.

Can u tell me that wht are the basic qualifications required for cinematography ?
hi,
+2 is basic qualification to learn cinematography, if +2 with physics and chemistry is an advantage, but not mandatory.
But for other film institutes graduation is the qualification.
is it neccesary to persue graduation for learning a cinematography coourse in any well known institute??

the basic qualification is graduation.

cinematographers will be trained in technique and art of shooting moving images with diff cameras.
they understand visual language and learn to
visualize, shooting, diff cameras, Diff kind of work like movies,videos, documentaries, ads.. the list goes on.
there are less jobs and more job works.
more than that a cinematographer want to be individual and do assignments, rather joining as an employee in a company.
